Volleyball Recap: Shelton's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Shelton faced Cheshire in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Gaels came out on top against the Rams by a score of 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Gaels sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

While Shelton might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Cheshire scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 22-25, 25-22.

Dominic Durante paced Shelton's offense, picking up 16 kills. Durante got some help from Matthew Reilly and his 35 assists. Durante was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Shelton pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cheshire, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.

Shelton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cheshire, they will welcome Glastonbury at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
