Baseball Game Preview: Eisenhower Eagles vs. Carter Lions

Eisenhower hasn't had much luck against Carter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Lions at 3:45 p.m. Eisenhower has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Thursday, Eisenhower came up short against Grand Terrace and fell 12-9.

Eisenhower got a big performance out of Daniel Mendez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Aguilar, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carter). Everything went their way against Arroyo Valley on Thursday as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Enzo Reyes was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angel Acevedo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Carter, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Eisenhower was able to grind out a solid win over Carter when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
