Basketball Recap: Hunter Morales' Big Game Can't Quite Lead La Joya over La Feria

La Joya was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-46 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Feria Lions. The Coyotes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Several Coyotes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Morales, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. Anthony Romero was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and three steals.

La Joya's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for La Feria, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

La Joya will take on Grulla in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for La Feria, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hanna at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th.
