Basketball Game Preview: DeMatha Stags vs. Whitney Young Dolphins

The DeMatha Stags will be taking part in a tournament against the Whitney Young Dolphins at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

DeMatha fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against St. John's on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 78-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cadets. The Stags' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jacob Wallace, who went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ashton (Ace) Meeks was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Whitney Young beat Fenwick 58-52 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.

Whitney Young has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for DeMatha, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
