Football Recap: West Monroe Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, West Monroe couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 42-35 to the Barbe Buccaneers on Friday. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2017.

It was another big night for Jelandon Gray, who rushed for 81 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 112 yards and one touchdown for Barbe.

West Monroe has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.8 points over those games. As for Barbe, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

West Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Barbe, they will square off against Neville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
