Football Recap: Gateway Charter Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Gateway Charter and Santa Fe Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Gateway Charter had to settle for second. They took a hard 21-7 fall against the Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Griffins of the 38-22 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Zyrell Thomas produced another solid performance rushing for 145 yards and one score for Santa Fe Catholic. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Gateway Charter and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Santa Fe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Gateway Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Santa Fe Catholic, they will challenge St. Edward's at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th.
