Cottondale had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bethlehem Wildcats with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

Marley Green was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Chrishaunna Dawson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Maycee Griffin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Cottondale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bethlehem only posted a batting average of .059.

Cottondale's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bethlehem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Cottondale is taking a road trip to take on Marianna at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bethlehem, they will welcome Vernon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
