Basketball Game Preview: Castle View Sabercats vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars

The Castle View Sabercats will take on the Cherokee Trail Cougars in a tournament on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Castle View is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Wednesday. They walked away with a 68-59 win over Chatfield.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Trail had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Legacy 75-11 on Wednesday.

Cherokee Trail's win came from a few key players Castle View will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aaliyah Broadus, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 15 points in addition to six boards and six steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Cain, who shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Cherokee Trail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Castle View took a serious blow against Cherokee Trail when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 60-27. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Sabercats were down 42-17.
