Baseball Game Preview: Douglass Astros vs. Mt. Zion Bulldogs

The Douglass Astros will head out to challenge the Mt. Zion Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Douglass has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Douglass is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Luella, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, Mt. Zion lost 8-1 to Riverdale on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Mt. Zion saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ronnie Terry, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Douglass' loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mt. Zion, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Douglass has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .520. However, it's not like Mt. Zion struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Douglass couldn't quite get it done against Mt. Zion when the teams last played back in February of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can Douglass avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
