Baseball Recap: Fairfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against Fayetteville-Perry

While Fairfield's victory against Fayetteville-Perry wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rockets 13-11. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Caleb Rice was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Matthews, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory snapped Fairfield's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield will head out to square off against Paint Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they will head out on the road to take on Whiteoak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
