Preview: UIC College Prep Firecats vs. Baker Bobcats
The UIC College Prep Firecats will head out on the road to square off against the Baker Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully UIC College Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday.
UIC College Prep posted their biggest win since December 6, 2023 on Saturday. They breezed by Wolcott College Prep at home to the tune of 70-38. The victory was just what UIC College Prep needed coming off of a 67-37 loss in their prior contest.
UIC College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Coleman led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Marcus Moore, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Baker, who are still winless after their sixth match. They were dealt a 69-14 defeat at the hands of Golder on Thursday.
UIC College Prep's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Baker, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
UIC College Prep took their win against Baker when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 60-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for UIC College Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
