Basketball Recap: Sheets Memorial Christian Starts Season with Win on the Road

Sheets Memorial Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the HOPE Academy Royals with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 72-53.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sheets Memorial Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jude Howell, who shot 86% from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and seven steals. Those 26 points gave Howell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Finn Everhart, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards.

HOPE Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Eli Budgick, who posted 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Shelton, who earned 18 points.

Looking ahead, Sheets Memorial Christian will take on Cornerstone Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for HOPE Academy, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Grace Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
