Basketball Game Preview: Center Cougars vs. Wood Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Center Cougars challenge the Wood Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Back in November, Center took their game with ease, bagging a 75-43 victory over Golden Sierra. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-23.

Andy McLear was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 29 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tima Makovey, who had 18 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken triple overtime to finish the job, but Wood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 win over Rosemont. 58 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

The win made it two in a row for Wood and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Center, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Center was dealt a bruising 74-39 defeat at the hands of Wood in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Center, Cory Edwards (who went 11 of 20 on his way to 29 points in addition to eight boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
