Football Recap: Merrillville Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Merrillville walked away with it. They blew past the Munster Mustangs 45-14 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Jacquarious Johnson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 150 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 52 receiving yards. Those four rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Cameron Jordan, who rushed for 61 yards and one score.

The win (which was Merrillville's eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.4 points over those games. As for Munster, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Merrillville will head out to challenge Michigan City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 847 yards in their previous games. Munster does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
