Preview: Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES vs. Wyalusing Valley Rams
Mount Carmel has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Wyalusing Valley Rams at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mount Carmel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 335 points over their last six contests.
Mount Carmel stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 46-13 win over Shamokin Area on the road. The score was close at the half, but Mount Carmel pulled away in the second half with 34 points.
Mount Carmel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Blessing, who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 39 receiving yards. Blessing was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Xavier Diaz, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Meanwhile, Wyalusing Valley and Towanda were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Wyalusing Valley suffered an agonizing 15-14 defeat.
Mount Carmel's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Midd-West and 2-8 Shikellamy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 22.5% over those games). As for Wyalusing Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
