Basketball Recap: Douglas County Takes a Loss

Douglas County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 71-50 to the Denver East Angels on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Huskies have suffered since December 7, 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Douglas County lost, don't look at Vaughn Baldwin. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Smukler, who posted nine points.

Denver East's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JAMES MURRAY, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. LINCOLN LEMIEUX was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points along with five boards and four steals.

Denver East's win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Douglas County will take on Rocky Mountain in a tournament on Friday. As for Denver East, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against ThunderRidge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Denver East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67 points per game this season.
