Baseball Recap: Eastland Comes Up Short

Eastland fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Sterling on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Warriors. The defeat continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Golden Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Eastland's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Sterling, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-15.

Looking ahead, Eastland will be playing in front of their home fans against Amboy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sterling, they will take on Geneseo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Maple Leafs' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Golden Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
