Soccer Recap: Gaffney Takes a Loss

Gaffney scored the most goals they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the York Cougars who were credited with the win. The York Cougars got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to the Gaffney Indians' three. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jose Aguilera Mosqueda and Israel Loaiza scored both of Gaffney's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Gaffney now has a losing record of 1-2. As for York, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

The future could be bright for both Gaffney and York: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Gaffney will look to extend Spartanburg's four-game losing streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, York will try to hand A.C. Flora their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
