Football Game Preview: Salt Fork Storm vs. Clifton Central Comets

The Salt Fork Storm will square off against the Clifton Central Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Salt Fork is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 48 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Oakwood on Friday. They lost 28-7 to the Comets. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Clifton Central was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Iroquois West 44-8. Considering the Comets have won six matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Salt Fork better keep an eye on Brady Shule. He was instrumental in Clifton Central's win, throwing for 215 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Everett Bailey was another key player, rushing for 56 yards and one score on only five carries.

The win made it two in a row for Clifton Central and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 points in those games. As for Salt Fork, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

Salt Fork and Clifton Central were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Salt Fork came up empty-handed after a 28-27 defeat. Thankfully for the Storm, Aidan Podowicz (who rushed for 121 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time.
