Basketball Game Preview: Littleton Lions vs. Summit Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Littleton Lions challenge the Summit Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday... Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Littleton will head into Wednesday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a 22-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Thomas Jefferson out 39-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted against the Spartans since December 5, 2015.

Littleton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Vicky Whitney out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. Those 15 points gave Whitney a new career-high. Emma Bird was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Littleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Summit beat Bear Creek 55-49 on Wednesday.

Summit now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Littleton, they moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Everything came up roses for Littleton against Summit in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, as the squad secured a 49-18 win. Does Littleton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Summit turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
