Basketball Recap: Pittsfield Panthers vs. Nute Rams
The Pittsfield Panthers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Nute Rams on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Rams. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Pelletier, who scored 31 points. That was a full 50% of Pittsfield's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mike Casey was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Pittsfield's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Nute, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.
Pittsfield will be playing at home against the Lakers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Hampshire (Sunapee is ranked 82nd, while the Panthers are ranked 86th). As for Nute, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. Wilton-Lyndeborough is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
