Basketball Game Preview: NCSSM: Durham Unicorns vs. Chatham Charter Knights + How To Watch

The NCSSM: Durham Unicorns will head out to face off against the Chatham Charter Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Unicorns fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They blew past Durham School of the Arts 82-51 on Wednesday. The Unicorns pushed the score to 65-40 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had little chance of recovering from.

Jay Peng went supernova, putting up 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Those seven boards gave him a new career-high. Christopher Chen was another key player, earning 17 points.

Meanwhile, Chatham Charter was able to grind out a solid win over Phoenix Academy on Tuesday, taking the game 67-54.

NCSSM: Durham better focus on containing Breylan Harris and Kymani Wagner-Jatta as the pair were huge in Chatham Charter's win. Harris went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Wagner-Jatta shot 86% from the field on his way to 15 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Joshua Siler, who posted seven points.

NCSSM: Durham came up short against Chatham Charter in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 62-58. Thankfully for the Unicorns, Brennan LaVelle (who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 20 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
