After a string of six wins, Oak Hill's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 66-51 fall against the Lapel Bulldogs. The Golden Eagles were probably out for revenge after losing 48-28 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Oak Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jace Tonagel went 9 for 18 en route to 21 points and eight assists. That was a full 41.2% of Oak Hill's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was RJ Shugart, who earned 12 points.

Lapel got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brode B Judge out in front who went 10 of 21 on his way to 29 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, B Judge is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Quinn Wilkins was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 11 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards.

Oak Hill's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Lapel, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Hill will head out to challenge Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. As for Lapel, they are taking a road trip to face off against Tipton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
