Pawnee Heights takes loss despite strong efforts from Clayton Hammeke and Davin Hamby

Recap: Pawnee Heights Tigers vs. Ashland Blue Jays

The Pawnee Heights Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ashland. Pawnee Heights was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ashland apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Davin Hamby and Clayton Hammeke certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Hamby scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Hammeke scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Hamby is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Leighton Munk, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.

Pawnee Heights dropped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Ashland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10.

Pawnee Heights will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ashland at 8:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Ashland is ranked 319th, while Pawnee Heights is ranked 310th). Ashland on the road again and play against Pawnee Heights at 8:00 p.m. on January 30th. Pawnee Heights has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
