Football Game Preview: Omaha Westside Warriors vs. Kearney Bearcats

The Omaha Westside Warriors will challenge the Kearney Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Omaha Westside comes in on five and Kearney on four.

Omaha Westside is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 victory over Bellevue West. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Braylen Warren had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 136 yards and three TDs, while also punching in one rushing score. Tay Tay Jenkins helped Warren out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Omaha Westside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Hudson Mead, Eli Johnson, and Bryson Williams picked up one apiece. That interception was Mead's first of the season. Omaha Westside got some further help from Burke Brown: he made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Kearney faced Columbus in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bearcats enjoyed a cozy 24-7 win over the Discoverers.

Omaha Westside better focus on containing Zach Atchison and Levi Pofahl as the pair were huge in Kearney's win. Atchison rushed for 53 yards, while Pofahl rushed for 60 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Atchison has posted since back in August.

Omaha Westside's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Kearney, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything came up roses for Omaha Westside against Kearney when the teams last played back in October of 2023, as the squad secured a 56-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
