Basketball Recap: Roncalli's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Roncalli had lost five straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Reagan Turk didn't let it get to six. The Roncalli Royals rang in the new year with a 57-45 win over the Harrison Raiders on Friday thanks in part to Turk, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 13 points along with six boards and three steals. Those 13 points gave her a new career-high.

Harrison lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aleah Szymanski, who posted six points and three steals. Szymanski has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Conklin, who put up seven points.

Roncalli now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Harrison, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Roncalli will square off against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Roncalli surely won't give up without a fight. As for Harrison, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-37 win against Lebanon on the 4th.
