Football Recap: James Buchanan Comes Up Short

James Buchanan extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They were beaten by the Line Mountain Eagles 54-8. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Eagles are ranked 118th).

Josh Kimmel threw for 62 yards and one TD. Christian Pine was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

As for Line Mountain, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.5 points on average over those games.

Kaiden Maurer produced another solid performance throwing for 162 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 83 yards and one score on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. A healthy portion of Maurer's aerial production (125 yards to be exact) went to Bryce Smeltz, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Coming up, James Buchanan will head out to take on East Pennsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Line Mountain, they will be playing at home against Camp Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
