Baseball Recap: Warrensburg-Latham Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warrensburg-Latham). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Tri-City Tornadoes on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won three in a row.

Nick Shelsta was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that he launched this season. Trenton Bridges was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Warrensburg-Latham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.

Warrensburg-Latham pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average this season. As for Tri-City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warrensburg-Latham will challenge St. Teresa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tri-City, they will take on Nokomis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
