Football Game Preview: Greenwich Cardinals vs. Ludlowe Falcons

Greenwich has gone a perfect 5-0 against Ludlowe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Falcons at 12:00 p.m. Greenwich's defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so Ludlowe's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Greenwich is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: New Canaan, who was ranked first at the time (Greenwich was ranked fourth). The Cardinals took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams on Friday. The contest marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Greenwich's defeat came about despite a quality game from Hector Lopez(C), who rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. Lopez(C) is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Ludlowe hadn't done well against Trumbull recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Falcons took their matchup with ease, bagging a 35-7 win over the Eagles. 35 seems to be a good number for the Falcons as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

The win made it two in a row for Ludlowe and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Greenwich, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Greenwich against Ludlowe when the teams last played back in November of 2019, as the team secured a 58-0 victory. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
