Basketball Recap: Metro Tech Comes Up Short

Metro Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Sierra Linda Bulldogs and fell 57-26. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 85-37 last Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Metro Tech lost, don't look at Luis Gamboa. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. Adrian Sesena also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Sierra Linda was led to victory by Liam Nduwayezu and Manuel Banuelos Ochoa. Nduwayezu shot 50% from the field en route to 14 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Banuelos Ochoa went 5-for-8 to rack up 16 points and six steals. Those 16 points gave Banuelos Ochoa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zaylen Glass, who scored eight points and six steals.

Metro Tech's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Sierra Linda, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Metro Tech will venture away from home to square off against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sierra Linda, they will head out to challenge Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
