Basketball Recap: Pinellas Park Comes Up Short

Pinellas Park extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They had to suffer through a 62-24 loss at the hands of the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.

As for Sports Leadership & Management, they pushed their record up to 1-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games.

Sports Leadership & Management's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jillayah McClendon, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Qiana Arlt, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals.

Coming up, Pinellas Park will host Northside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Seffner Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season.
