Baseball Recap: Fort Myers Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Fort Myers lost to South Fort Myers back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Fort Myers had just enough and edged out South Fort Myers 4-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Green Wave.

Owen Augustine tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Fort Myers saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Best, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Fort Myers hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Fort Myers struck out ten times.

Fort Myers pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for South Fort Myers, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Fort Myers will face off against Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Fort Myers, they will challenge Loyola Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
