Etiwanda has gone 9-1 against St. Lucy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Regents at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.
Etiwanda is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Los Osos just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Grizzlies, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since August 26th.
While Etiwanda was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.
Etiwanda's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kamryn Andrews, who had nine assists and five digs, and Meaalofa Tauaese, who had seven digs and seven assists.
Meanwhile, St. Lucy's lost 3-0 to Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday.
While St. Lucy's was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Rancho Cucamonga's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-13, 25-19.
Etiwanda will have to keep a close watch on Mya Moshrefi and Tai Wright, a pair of players who had a big impact on St. Lucy's prior game. Moshrefi had 15 digs and two assists, while Wright had six kills and five digs. Moshrefi is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played.
Etiwanda's defeat dropped their record down to 19-12. As for St. Lucy's, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Everything went Etiwanda's way against St. Lucy's when the teams last played back in September, as Etiwanda made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
