Basketball Recap: Pembroke Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Pembroke was the 47-45 winner over Letchworth when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Pembroke Dragons took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Letchworth Legends on Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why Pembroke lost, don't look at Peyton Liss. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 12 on her way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Liss has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Hootman, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Pembroke smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Pembroke's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Letchworth, their record is now 5-6.

Pembroke will square off against Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Letchworth, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wayland-Cohocton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Letchworth is facing Wayland-Cohocton at the right time seeing as Wayland-Cohocton is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
