Softball Game Preview: Steelville Cardinals vs. Licking Wildcats

The Steelville Cardinals will head out to take on the Licking Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Steelville is looking for their season's first win.

Steelville fell victim to Bismarck and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 17-0.

Steelville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was GracieMae Boone, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple. That triple was Boone's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Licking fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Plato on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Zoey Dawson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Halee Clayton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

Steelville's record now sits at 0-16. As for Licking, their record is now 12-9.

Steelville suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Licking in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
