Highland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks, posting an 80-50 victory. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 64-44 win the Mavericks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Defeat or not, Miller School of Albemarle got some senior leadership from Connor Lyons and Gabe D'Alessandro. Lyons went 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points and six boards, while D'Alessandro shot 55% from the field en route to 19 points. Those 55% field goal percentage set a new season-high mark for D'Alessandro.

Having lost for the first time this season, Miller School of Albemarle fell to 3-1.

Highland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-59 victory against Broughton on the 22nd. As for Miller School of Albemarle, they have also already played their next matchup, a 59-55 win against Trinity Episcopal on the 22nd.
