Basketball Recap: BASIS Phoenix Firebirds vs. Ray Bearcats
The BASIS Phoenix Firebirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Ray by a score of 55-53.
Arjun Sudalaimuthu and Atharsh Ramkumar certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Sudalaimuthu scored 19 points along with three steals, while Ramkumar scored 17 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Krish Bhakata, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
BASIS Phoenix's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Ray, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. BASIS Phoenix won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Matador at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Maryvale Prep is ranked 330th, while the Firebirds are ranked 319th). As for Ray, they will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. David is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
