Baseball Recap: Meridian Takes a Loss

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Columbia, falling 17-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Meridian of the 14-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Columbia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Meridian will challenge Brandon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meridian has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Columbia, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Columbia Wildcats face off against Mendenhall Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
