Baseball Recap: Winfield Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Winfield never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the South Charleston Black Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-5 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Brayson Downey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Preston Keiffer was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Winfield pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for South Charleston, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winfield will face off against Huntington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Charleston, they will square off against Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Black Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
