Baseball Recap: Manteca Wins Going Away Against Sierra

Manteca got themselves on the board against Sierra on Friday, but Sierra never followed suit. They blew past the Timberwolves 6-0. This was a revenge game for the Buffaloes: when they faced off against the Timberwolves on Friday, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.

The result came thanks to Jeremy Cross's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, Jace Quitasol and Cameron Jimenez did most of the damage at the plate: Quitasol scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Jimenez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Quitasol has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Anthony, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Manteca hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matchups.

Manteca is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Manteca will venture away from home to square off against Mountain House at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Manteca is facing Mountain House at the right time seeing as Mountain House is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Sierra, they will square off against Oakdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sierra's pitchers better be ready for this one: Oakdale has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
