Softball Recap: Pineville Falls to Whitley County in First Game of Season

Pineville had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Whitley County Colonels by a score of 11-9 on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their meetings with the Colonels: they've now lost eight in a row.

Rayanna Maidon and Baileigh Bargo-Vaughn did some serious damage despite the final result: Maidon scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3, while Bargo-Vaughn went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Maidon a new career-high. Addison Slone was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Looking ahead, Pineville will square off against Berea at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for Whitley County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 20-2 defeat against Perry County Central on the 14th.
