Recap: CORE Butte Lynx vs. Los Molinos Bulldogs
The CORE Butte Lynx's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. Their rough 54-33 defeat to Los Molinos might stick with them for a while. CORE Butte has not had much luck with Los Molinos recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the defeat, CORE Butte saw an underclassman step up: Brianna Hayes scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Hayes, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Natalie Martinez, who scored 27 points for Los Molinos. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Briggs, who scored 11 points.
CORE Butte's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.9 points per game. As for Los Molinos, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10.
CORE Butte is on the road again on Friday and play against Princeton at 9:00 a.m. on December 22nd. Princeton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Los Molinos will be home for the holidays to greet Biggs at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Biggs is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
