Baseball Game Preview: Hahnville Tigers vs. Mandeville Skippers

The Hahnville Tigers will take on the Mandeville Skippers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hahnville will be strutting in after a win while Mandeville will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Hahnville turned things around against Chalmette on Monday. They came out on top against the Owls by a score of 6-1.

Avyn Whitney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hahnville is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Joshua Cancienne was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Koa Romero was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mandeville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Holy Cross.

Mandeville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Sam Marse gave up a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave Marse a new career-high in strikeouts.

Mandeville's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Hahnville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Hahnville came out on top in a nail-biter against Mandeville in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Will Hahnville repeat their success, or does Mandeville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
