Softball Game Preview: Pope Francis Prep Cardinals vs. Pathfinder RVT Pioneers

The Pope Francis Prep Cardinals will face off against the Pathfinder RVT Pioneers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pope Francis Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 16.4 runs per game this season.

Pope Francis Prep's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Commerce as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won nine in a row.

Lacey Bermudez-Lizardi was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Taylor Moreau was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Pope Francis Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Commerce only posted an OBP of .235.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Pathfinder RVT's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Franklin County Tech, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Pioneers were not able to get on the board.

Pathfinder RVT's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Pope Francis Prep, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.
