Recap: Otay Ranch Mustangs vs. Valley Christian Trojans
On Saturday, Otay Ranch took a serious blow against Valley Christian, falling 83-51. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Otay Ranch has scored all season.
Loss or not, Otay Ranch got some senior leadership from Percy Whittaker who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and Dion Harvey who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Whittaker 's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Dylan Yates was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Otay Ranch struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Otay Ranch and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Valley Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Otay Ranch will take on Bishop Montgomery in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Bishop Montgomery presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Otay Ranch in California (Bishop Montgomery is ranked 96th, while Otay Ranch is ranked 695th). Valley Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rancho Solano Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
