Basketball Game Preview: Central Christian Academy Lions vs. Sedgwick Cardinals

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions challenge the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central Christian Academy has three straight wins, Sedgwick has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Central Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Sterling, taking the game 54-43.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Luckner, who posted 14 points and five assists. That's the most points Luckner has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Elaina Magana, who went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points along with five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Sedgwick was beaten by Remington 43-16 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Broncos are ranked 44th).

Sedgwick's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Central Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Central Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Sedgwick when the teams last played back in January, winning 40-33. Will Central Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Sedgwick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
