Volleyball Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Comes Up Short

Thomas Heyward Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Tuesday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Thomas Heyward Academy sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 15-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-4.

Andrew Jackson Academy was led to victory by McKinnley Beard and Bella Carrigg. Beard had 24 kills, six digs, four aces, and one block, while Carrigg had 44 assists and three aces. Those 44 assists gave Carrigg a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harlo Sease, who had ten kills, three digs, and two aces.

Thomas Heyward Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Thomas Heyward Academy is taking a road trip to take on Colleton Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
