University City had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Steele Canyon Cougars by a score of 5-1 on Monday. This was payback for the Centurions, who suffered a 19-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Thiago Quillin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits.

At the plate, Josh Kaplan and Elijah Caul did most of the damage at the plate: Kaplan scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Caul scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

University City will host La Jolla Country Day at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
