Baseball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. Giddings Buffaloes

The Brazos Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Giddings Buffaloes at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Brazos is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Brazos' tournament run continued when they took on Shiner on Saturday. Brazos fell 13-10 to Shiner. Even if the Cougars couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Luke Polasek was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Gunner Grigar was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Giddings suffered their biggest loss since May 11, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against Ganado, falling 10-1. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Buffaloes' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Giddings saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gunnar Fromme, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Fromme launched this season.

Brazos' record is now 3-6. As for Giddings, their record now sits at 4-3-1.
