Basketball Game Preview: North Stars vs. South Spartans

A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The North Stars will face off against the South Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, North was fully in charge, breezing past East Bakersfield 99-48. Given the Stars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Blades are ranked 1027th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, South came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match with ease, bagging a 73-35 victory over the Lions.

North has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for South, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

North barely slipped by South in their previous meeting back in January, winning 44-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for North since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
